My New Favourite Jewellery Piece- Carat London Review

I wouldn’t say that I’m overly adventurous when it comes to my style – I like a classic, no-fuss, minimal look. In fact, my winged eyeliner is probably the most ‘extreme’ thing about me! So you can imagine how thrilled I was when Carat London contacted me and asked if I’d like to review a piece of their jewellery for my blog. I love the simplistic elegance of Carat Londons designs; they don’t date or go out of fashion and can be a staple in your jewellery ‘wardrobe’ for years to come – the perfect kind of jewellery for me!

Carat London was established nearly 20 years ago with the mission to create stunning jewellery using the finest alternatives to mined gemstones. The stones they use in their pieces are lab-grown but have the same physical, atomic and elemental properties as mined diamonds – this means that they are more ethical, sustainable and most importantly, conflict-free.

I had the option to choose from a few different bracelet designs but I settled on the beautiful Lexi tennis bracelet to review.

History of the Tennis Bracelet

Firstly though, let’s talk about what exactly a ‘Tennis bracelet‘ is. It seems odd that an item of jewellery would be named after a sport, but when you hear its origin story it all makes a bit more sense. At the 1987 US Tennis Championships, a player called Chris Evert lost her George Bedewi inline diamond bracelet whilst playing one of her matches as the clasp broke and it fell off her wrist. She asked that the match be suspended so that she could retrieve the item of jewellery. After this happened and the world heard about the bracelet that stopped a sports tournament, jewellers the world over have started making beautiful inline diamond bracelets with secure clasps and calling them ‘tennis bracelets’ as they are made so that you can wear them without the worry of losing them, even if you are playing a particularly zealous game of tennis!

I chose the Lexi bracelet which is a sterling silver, white gold finish tennis bracelet with diamond white, brilliant-cut created gemstones in a simple ‘inline’ design finished with a slider clasp/closure.

It’s not just jewellery that can add an interesting accent to your outfit, a watch is an item that most people wear every day but don’t think to update it to suit their different looks. There is a great range of casio watch straps that you can swap on to your watch to make it look less dated and more in line with your current day to day styling!

The stones catch the light so perfectly it’s really hard to capture in photos, but they sparkle in such a pretty way. I love how dainty the settings look; I opted for the Lexi as it was the daintiest of the bracelets I was offered – I have petite and slim wrists, so this compliments them perfectly. It’s also slim enough that it would work well as a stacking bracelet with others of a similar style, such as the Dixie or Romy designs.

One of my favourite things about this bracelet is that it has the Carat London signature slider as the closure mechanism; this means it can be adjusted from around 21cm to 13cm, which is perfect for my little 15cm wrists! It also adds a bit more ‘interest’ to the design as the clasp and ends of the chain are decorated in even more stunning gems.

I am thrilled with my gifted bracelet and must extend a massive thank you to Carat London for thinking of me. I’ve found a few other items on their site (namely the Cosmo necklace and Zinnia necklace) that are now on my wishlist to treat myself to!

If you are looking for beautifully made, ethical jewellery, I would 100% recommend looking at Carat London.
