7 ways to stay healthy with a desk job

You can make as many resolutions as you like to fit back into your jeans, but you know if you are working a desk job, it is unlikely to happen. Given the scarcity of time to hit the gym, stress, poor eating habits, and most importantly, the immobility and sedentary lifestyle that accompany desk jobs, it becomes really difficult to stay healthy.

However, staying fit and working a desk job do come together if you know how to.

Here are some ways to help you –

Adopt a proper sleeping schedule

It won’t be wrong to say that we working individuals have a terrible sleeping schedule. So, we often fail to meet the minimum sleep requirement (which is mandatory for fat loss) and pass out our only possible time window to indulge in workouts.

Hence, what we need is a proper schedule, which necessitates sleeping on time. So if by any chance you spend hours scrolling instead of sleeping, it’s high time to change for good.

Wake up early

Let’s face it, evenings are meant to struggle with traffic and tiredness, thereby making mornings the ideal time to indulge in your preferred workouts.

Therefore, if you want to slim down on your waist or prevent expanding it, you have to make a sacrifice and start waking up early. These tips might help.

  •       Set up multiple alarms if you are inclined to shut it off and sleep again.
  •       Since sun rays send a signal to your brain to wake you up, consider drawing open your curtains before you sleep.

Get moving whenever you find the time

Science has proven that your metabolism is most likely to slow down every 30 minutes you are in a stationary position. Therefore, you have to prioritize walking around the office space now and then to get your metabolism boosted.

When and how can you take walks?

  •       Make use of your breaks. (Ditch unnecessary scrolling on the phone if you have to)
  •       Walk while you are on office calls
  •       Take short walks when you are in conversation with a colleague or boss.

Learn to say a no

We know how hard it can be to say no to colleagues when they plan to order food from outside. But you gotta live up to the challenge and say no.

That being said, restaurants make use of a lot of oil and other ingredients that might be unhealthy or possess too many calories. Hence, you cannot consume too much of it and expect to be fit and healthy. You have to make sacrifices, this being one of the many.

Consume a lot of fruits

Have you wondered why all our lives we have been suggested to consume fruits daily? Well, that’s because fruits come packed with lots of fibre, antioxidants, and nutrients.

That being said, they not only keep you healthy but they are also less in calories and contain properties that boost weight loss. Furthermore, they suppress food cravings and keep you from munching more calories and junk.

Therefore, if your lunch is stuffed with cookies and unhealthy food items, replacing them with a box full of tasty fruits is a good idea.

Switch to green tea

It has been proven that green tea consists of antioxidants that boost metabolism. Hence, instead of going for your usual tea, include green tea in your diet and see if it helps your purpose.

However, a disclaimer: it does no magic, and drinking it alone won’t do wonders for your health.

Lastly, a healthy lifestyle demands effort. So if you want to see results, you have to strive for them. So, go on, rock the desk job in healthy ways.
